I remember reading On the Road by Jack Kerouac for the first time in high school while I was traveling back and forth between Colorado and the Northeast for ski competitions. I felt particularly close to the narrator, Sal Paradise, as we both traveled from east to west and back again on trips that inspired my future love for adventure.
