If you’re looking for a way to experience Norway’s awesome outdoor wonders without trekking into the snow covered mountains, then look no further than the 100-mile Hardanger National Tourist Route. The road rides along the edge of still fjords at the bottom of steep Norwegian mountainsides through Norheimsund, Kinsarvik, Jondal, Granvin and Odda. Along the way are many opportunities to stop for hikes in the mountains, picnics by the water ands viewpoints of thundering waterfalls and vast panoramas. Fruit trees and orchards cover the hilly countryside and outdoor activities like glacial summer skiing, climbing Via Ferratas and fishing in the fjords are plentiful. Check out these photos from day hikes along the Hardanger route for a little bit of adventure inspiration.
