The following images were captured on a trip through the Lofoten Islands in Norway two summers ago. I stayed in a small fishing hut owned by a local farmer and his wife, which I used as a basecamp to explore the surrounding mountains and villages. Since the sun never set while I was there, I could set out on expeditions whenever the urge hit me, without any restrictions on return time. The Lofotens are truly spectacular. I will always remember the elegant silhouettes of the mountains as they loomed over the ocean, the smell of fish hanging out dry and the crackling of a midsummer night’s bonfire surrounded by some of the interesting locals who have made this striking, yet desolate landscape their home.
